The heat will build this weekend with highs in the mid 90s by Sunday. High pressure controls for most of the weekend and that will allow for plenty of sunshine and plenty of opportunity for highs to reach the 90s. Saturday we will see plenty of sun, but the humidity returns and heat index values could be in the upper 90s during the afternoon hours. We only get hotter from there. On Sunday, we will see plenty of sun for most of the day and temperatures will soar into the mid 90s. Dew points will be in the upper 60s and low 70s. This means heat index values in the afternoon on Sunday will very likely be in the upper 90s and many locations could feel over 100 degrees! Heat like this can be dangerous, make sure you limit time out this weekend and when outside seek shade and drink plenty of water. Make sure to check in with elderly neighbors and look before you lock if you have small children.
