CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- SUNY Corning Community College announced more than 680 students have been awarded federal grant money under the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act since the Spring 2020 semester. 

On average, students were awarded $1,418 to help cover expenses including technology, transportation, and additional course materials.

Also, Corning Community College Development Foundation aided students in need to cover similar expenses a total of $17,550 in Student Emergency Grants.

The College continues to offer an Emergency Laptop Loan Program to SUNY CCC students, which allows students to borrow a laptop for the semester in order to complete their course work remotely. The laptops were provided through SUNY. There is no cost to the student, pending the undamaged return of the item at the end of the term. 

Laptops are currently available for both Winter Online 2020, starting Dec. 7, and the Spring 2020 semester, starting Feb. 1.
