HAMMONDSPORT, N.Y. (WENY) – A historic boat has been restored and will soon be open for local tours on Keuka Lake.

Restoration on the “Pat II” is done after more than six years of work by volunteers at the Finger Lakes Boating Museum in Hammondsport.

The boat was originally built in 1924 in Alexandria Bay – which is in the Thousand Islands along the Saint Lawrence River; it also served as a tour boat along Skaneateles Lake.

“The importance for us is she was on Skaneateles Lake for 40 years,” said Edward Wightman, the Museum's Collections Chairman. “They retired this boat in '91 so she's been languishing since then. We picked her up in 2014 and have been working on her since – and now, she's finished.”

More than 17,000 hours of work went into the restoration. The museum says it's expected to be available for daily tours and charter trips next spring.
