Horseheads, NY (WENY)-- A local restaurant in Chemung County will be featured on the Food Network next month in a new show.

Beefeater Tavern in Horseheads will be featured on the episode that airs on April 15th.

Joe White, who co-owns the restaurant with his wife Stacey, said it was surprising to be chosen.

"I called my wife and said this is something you might want to look into," White explained, "Later that night, I got a message and she said 'You're not going to believe this, they're doing a show on cooks who may lack formal training. And I said, 'do you think Pat will be up for this?'

The show, Chef Boot Camp, takes chefs who may not have gotten formal training, and teaches them new skills, and identifies areas where they could improve.

Head cook Patrick O'Leary says he uses the skills he learned while filming the show every day.

"It tightened up skills that I needed to tighten up on, and he was showing me what we have to do," O'Leary said. "And I think about it every day pretty much, the things he told me, and try to incorporate it into work every day."

O'Leary was shocked once he learned the restaurant would be on the show.

"It was more than shocking when I found out I was going on. I didn't want to go on at first," O'Leary says, "Joe and Stacey talked me into it. Joe said 'you're an idiot if you don't do this.' And it was worth it, I'd do it again in a heartbeat."

The Beefeater Taverns episode will run at 10 pm on the Food Network on April 15th.
