BATH, N.Y. (WENY) – Bath Electric, Gas and Water Systems is urging some customers to avoid running hot water and avoid washing whites as they work to repair a water leak on West Morris Street/State Route 415.

During routine surveying, the company recently located the leak. In order to minimize disruption to businesses and homes as much as possible, the utility company says it will begin work at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, and plan to through the night and into the morning of Friday, July 16.

There is a “high potential” for dirty water due to the leak, so BEGWS is asking customers in West Morris Street, along with those located nearby on and off West Washington Street, to avoid running hot water and avoid washing whites until the leak has been repaired and water service has been restored. Additionally, due to the leak, customers will have to run their water “for a period of time” to ensure it is clear.
