Palace Theatre owner Tiffany Ely decided to keep her theater open for people this afternoon.

Many people celebrated their day off being watching famous films. Ely was adamant about keeping the theater open because she wanted to carry on a tradition.

“For me it's just a normal tradition because movie theaters are always open on Christmas,” she said. “We actually kind of missed doing it last year during Covid because we were shut down so we're happy to welcome people back.”

Popular films tend to debut during the holiday season. Ely urges people to watch the big blockbusters at her theater, especially because she is enforcing Covid-19 safety protocols.

“We are prepared for everybody to come back and everybody is wearing masks when they come in,” she said. “You can pick your seats when you first get here so that kind of helps people adjust to where they want to be.”

Palace Theatre employee Noah Belanger was excited to come in to work today. He talked about what kind of people he saw at the theater.

“Today we see a lot of bigger families...some older people,” he said. “I think we had a wide variety of people but mainly families.”

People can look forward to the theater staying open for the upcoming week. Ely wants parents to be able to bring their children during winter break. Many children have time off from school.

“We will have regular showings...actually additional showings throughout next week,” she said. “We'll be open.”

Ely is happy that everyone is getting more comfortable coming to her theater and welcomes everybody back for the holiday season.
