Your CBD Store hosts Canna-Design
(CORNING, N.Y.) WENY -- Angelina Templar, Your CBD Store owner, hosted an event called Canna-Design this afternoon.
Attendees painted, relaxed, and learned about what CBD, Cannabidiol, is and its effects on the body. Templar said that CBD is a non-psychoactive substance, unlike marijuana.
Templar wanted to host an event that combined fun and education.
“People could get their craft on and also, I could give them more information about our products and what sets up apart from marijuana because hemp is its own thing,” she said. “It can stand alone.”

Templar said the Corning community has had a positive reaction to her store, which she became owner of two years ago.
“We've had a really great response, especially because the longer we stay here, the better the response is...the stigma against cannabis is slowly but surely going away,” she said. “It's opening up the door to more people ...to having more open conversations about it.”
With the legalization of recreational marijuana in New York, it remains to be seen what sort of economic impact it may have on the sale of CBD products. Templar said her store has not been negatively affected, with the expected opening of retail dispensaries in Corning.
“With the legalization of marijuana, we're actually excited because that means they're going to cover the other side of cannabis that we do not,” she said. “We're really just going to be partnering up and working together.”

She educated event attendees about the effects CBD has on the body. There is a key difference between CBD and marijuana.
“One of the major differences between hemp and marijuana is that they're both cannabis plants...but marijuana is grown to contain a higher concentration of THC, which is the cannabinoid that gives the psychoactive effects or the high,” she said.
Templar said many people like CBD for its therapeutic benefits.
“A lot of people utilize CBD much like a vitamin or a mineral to help with everyday challenges like anxiety, pain relief, sleep deprivation,” she said. “A lot of potential benefits that people have experienced from it.”
Templar hopes to host more events in the future to teach the community about the benefits of CBD.
