TROY, P.A. (WENY) - A power outage in the Northern Tier has encouraged a local fire department to bring the heat Saturday morning.

Around 3:30 a.m., many residents in Troy and other parts of Bradford County lost power completely. Bradford County’s EMA reported roughly 400 people who lost their power.

Areas hit with power outages included Troy, Columbia, and Sylvania, in addition to parts of Tioga County, PA. Troy Fire Department worked with Bradford County Public Safety to set up a warming shelter at the Troy Firehall. Troy Fire Chief Roy Vargson was happy to open his doors for anyone in need of aid.

“Were here if someone needs a place to get warm, get a cup of coffee; they're more than welcome to come in,” Vargson said.

Bradford County and Penelec worked through chilly conditions this afternoon to repair the issues. The county announced at 2:30 p.m. that power was restored.
