Chamberlain Acres upholds annual market for old and new vendors

SOUTHPORT, N.Y. (WENY) - Chamberlain Acres Farmers Market helped many farmers in 2021, with plans to continue doing so in 2022.
Roughly a dozen vendors set up shop at the farmers market Sunday morning. The Marketplace provides local farmers an annual outlet by keeping their facilities open every Sunday.
Chamberlain Acres added three new vendors to their slate this year, adding to their collection of organic, hand-crafted items. Julie Dyke, a new vendor to the market, was happy to bring local goods from Dwarf Hollow Farmstead in Prattsburgh, N.Y. to share with Southport residents.
“I'll be coming down this way more,” Dyke said. “We've done good and it's been a lot of fun.”
Liz Martin is no stranger to Chamberlain Acres. The farmer attributes her continued business through the pandemic to the market remaining open all last year.
“It's been a great spot for that,” Martin said. “It's just been nice to know that year-round, every Sunday, there's a place that people can get local veggies, bread, meat, and eggs."
COVID-19 posed difficulties for many local businesses across the Twin Tiers. Co-owner of Chamberlain Acres Glenn Miller is proud to have the market serve as a local outlet during the pandemic for organic goods.
“I remember when the pandemic was first a big problem; everything was shutting down and people couldn’t get meat,” Miller said. “It's nice to provide people with something that is homegrown.”
Chamberlain Acres Farmers Market invites the community to come out on February 6th for a basket raffle giveaway. Chamberlain Acres also invites the community to visit its handmade artisan market on March 5th.
