ROCK STREAM, NY (WENY) -- This week in wine country, sponsored by Finger Lakes Wine Country, we're visiting one of the newest member wineries on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail.

Toast Winery opened in September 2020, by husband and wife team Mike and Jayne Gibbs. Originally from New Jersey, the couple says they were long-time visitors to the Finger Lakes, and passionate about the wine produced in the region. They decided to make a career change, and purchased the winery and have developed their own line of wines, focusing on quality and terroir that makes the Finger Lakes wine region unique.

 

 The term 'toast' refers to the toast level of the oak barrels used to store and age wine. A barrel's toast level will impart different flavors into the wine. The winery also incorporates vintage toasters into its decor, playing off the theme.
