April snow showers bring April snow plowers

April snow showers bring snow plowers.
Here’s a look at how much snow to expect across the region. Precipitation will begin with rain this afternoon in the southwest pushing toward the northeast. This will quickly transition to snow and mixed precipitation.
Prior to sunset, snow will struggle to accumulate as ground temperatures will be above freezing. The best chance for accumulation will occur overnight into the early morning as temperatures dip to the low 30s with occasional heavy banding of snow. West of Elmira will see between 1 to 3 inches of snow while accumulation to the east will be between 3 to 6 inches. Localized higher amounts are possible on hilltops. Snow will taper off by noon tomorrow.
Be sure to give yourself extra time tomorrow morning along the roads as surfaces will be very slick.
