ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY)-- The Elmira Police Department announced on Monday that 55 year-old Ervin Mosley of Elmira was the victim of a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning.

According to EPD, the incident took place on the 400 block of West Clinton Street in Elmira,  early Saturday morning around 2:55 am.

Residents indicated to police the shooter ran into the residence of 424 W. Clinton Street. Officers went into the residence and found a male exiting the home and holding an AK-47 rifle. Officers instructed him to put down the weapon and he complied but resisted being arrested and was tasered by police.

Officers then located Mosley, who was shot inside one of the bedrooms and transported him to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. 

Officers arrested 42-year-old Taiwan L. Dennard and charged him with second-degree murder.

A search warrant was obtained for the home and in addition to the AK-47, police say Dennard was in possession of two 9mm Glock handguns, one being a ghost gun with a 50-round drum attachment. A Mauser bolt action rifle and numerous clips, magazines, and ammunition were also located inside the home. 

Police say this investigation is still ongoing however the evidence they have gathered so far indicated it stems from a domestic dispute over property and there is no threat to the community.
