American Airlines ending service to Ithaca Tompkins International Airport
ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Starting September 7, American Airlines is ending service to Ithaca Tompkins International Airport, due to the pilot shortage.
The company will also stop flying to Islip, New York, Toledo, Ohio and Dubuque, Iowa.
Ithaca and the other three cities are served by American Airline's regional affiliates. Those planes offer up to two flights per day to larger hubs.
A spokesperson for American Airlines says the company has 100 regional planes that it can not fly because the company does not have enough regional pilots.
