ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - An Elmira man was arrested on several drug and weapons charges on the city's east side over the weekend.

According to EPD, 38 year old Matthew Sadler was pulled over on Saturday at around 6 PM after police saw him failing to stop his moped at the intersection of Division and Lake Streets.

Police said that during the traffic stop, they learned that his driving privileges in New York were suspended for failing to pay child support. Police also said that he allegedly resisted arrest.

According to EPD, they saw that Sadler was armed with a .38 revolver in a holster.

A search incidental to arrest revealed that Sadler also had a BB gun as well as fentanyl and methamphetamine to sell.

Sadler was eventually secured without any injuries and was charged with 2nd Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 3rd Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 2nd Degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd, 3rd Degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, AUO and numerous NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
