CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) - Corning Incorporated's 19th annual golf tournament in support of United Way of the Southern Tier hit a fundraising record.

The company raised $100,000 in support of programs for children, senior citizens, and families in Chemung and Steuben counties.

More than 350 players are participating in the tournament, which takes place over two days, July 8th and July 11th at the Corning Country Club.

"Corning is thrilled to be able to host this event and bolster the good work of United Way, which supports so many important programs in our community – from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library for young children to ensuring home-delivered meals for seniors," said Marty Curran, Corning Incorporated Executive Vice President & Innovation Officer and board chair of United Way of the Southern Tier.

"We are grateful to all the volunteers at Corning who put this tournament together, especially Kristine Dale, Corning Incorporated's United Way director, who works so tirelessly to make each year's event better than the last," said United Way of the Southern Tier President & CEO, Stephen M. Hughes.
