HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Two people were injured after a collapse at a construction site at the HOST Terminal in Horseheads Tuesday afternoon.

According to Horseheads Fire Chief Arthur Sullivan, the framework of the Southern Tier Logistics Building gave out. Sullivan said two workers escaped with non-life threatening injuries.

From the air, multiple trucks and construction vehicles could be seen underneath the metal framework. Chief Sullivan later said the cause of the collapse is unknown and that the incident is under investigation.

Southern Tier Logistics, which owns what is known as the Horseheads HOST Terminal issued a statement regarding the incident.

“We are devastated that this happened but thankful no one was critically injured. We will release more details after a full investigation,” said Angela Hawken, Vice President of Southern Tier Logistics’ Eastern Division.

The company said the collapse is under investigation. The 461,000 square foot construction project had been scheduled for completion in early 2023.
