Bedrock Cruise-In returns to Bradford County
WINDHAM TOWNSHIP, P.A. (WENY) -- Cars dating back to 1929 were parked outside the Windham Township Volunteer Fire Company for the 2022 Bedrock Cruise-In. Dozens came out Sunday morning to see the iconic cars.
Hundreds of cars were parked outside the fire department starting Sunday morning. A Chinese auction part of the car show was held in the firehouse while the car show was going on. Vendors and volunteer firefighters were selling food and other goods to the community. Proceeds from the event go towards funding the Windham Township Volunteer Fire Company.
“We got cars here dating back to the 1930s that they've never seen; not even on that internet... they didn't know they existed,” Adam Chilsom, said. “The cars here today are the best that they can be.”
Doug Soden has been a Volunteer Firefighter with the Windham Township Fire Company for 50 years. He assisted many of the drivers on Sunday by fixing their rides at his car shop, Doug’s Hot Rod Shop. He's been organizing this car show with his wife for over a decade and says the event helps raise needed funds for the fire company.
“We have to do that because we don't get a lot of money from the township,” Soden said. “So, we get what we get and have to earn the rest of our money.”
Red Header's built his modified Club Sedan from scratch. He served in the Army from 1965 to 1968, fighting in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968. He took parts from an older car he had in high school to construct the patriotic vehicle he brought to the Bedrock Cruise-In.
“I have so much with it,” Header said. “I told a friend of mine the other day, this car gives me unmeasurable happiness. That's why I built it.”
The Bedrock Cruise-In hopes to return to Bradford County again next summer. More information about the Windham Township Volunteer Fire Company can be found on Facebook.
