ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - The Elmira Police Department promoted three officers to the sergeant rank in a ceremony Monday morning at city hall.

EPD says the officers were promoted to the first line supervisor position of sergeant and will serve at the patrol level.

Sergeant Joshua Pratt joined EPD in April 2013. He is currently a member of the department's SWAT team. His badge was pinned on by his son Colton. He will be assigned to B Platoon, the day shift.

Sergeant Michael Kozemko joined in August 2012 after serving six years as a police officer in Pennsylvania. He was born and raised in Elmira and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1996. In 2000, he graduated from the University of Scranton with a degree in accounting. 

His badge was pinned on by his wife Jennifer. He will be assigned to A Platoon, the overnight shift.

Finally, Sergeant Matthew McGrain joined in 2012 and is a graduate of SUNY CCC where he earned an associate's degree in Criminal Justice. He later attended SUNY Brockport where he earned a dual degree in criminal justice and sociology.

His badge was pinned on by his wife Carly. He will be assigned to C Platoon, the afternoon shift.
