As we head deeper into September, above normal temperatures are likely for over two-thirds of the Lower 48.  Additionally, portions of the Central Plains are likely to be well above-average for the second third of September. Warmer than normal temperatures during this time of year causes a delay in fall foliage. Therefore, if these trends persist into the latter part of September and into October, that delay will be very noticeable in October.

For the second third of September, the average high at Elmira ranges from 72 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit.  After a cool down during the first half of next week, our highs could return to the low 80's by Thursday.
