WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) - NASCAR is set to return to Watkins Glen International in 2023 as the national series schedule was released on Wednesday. The Go Bowling at the Glen race will take place on Sunday, August 20th, 2023.

This is the same weekend as 2022 and the race will once again serve as the penultimate race in the regular season.

In a release from the track, Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup said "There was an unbelievable energy and buzz around the Go Bowling at the Glen race this year as drivers were desperate to preserve their championship hopes. Our fans were treated to intense racing and will get more of the same as The Glen will once again be the lead-in to the regular season finale in Daytona."

The 2022 Go Bowling at the Glen marked the eighth consecutive grandstand sellout and the second camping sellout in a row at WGI. Kyle Larson captured his second straight Go Bowling at the Glen win this season and swept the weekend after winning Saturday's Xfinity Series race, while Chase Elliott won the previous two races at WGI in 2018 and 2019.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series will also return to WGI on Saturday, August 19th. The series started racing at Watkins Glen in 1991, and besides the 2020 season, has raced at the track every year since.

The ARCA Menards Series 2023 season schedule will be announced in the near future.
