NEWFIELD, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Covered Bridge Dance took place in Newfield, this evening. People came together to celebrate with old-fashioned, country line dances.

Newfield's Old Home Day's committee wanted to put on an event for the community on the covered bridge. This bridge is the oldest covered bridge that is still in daily use, in New York State.

To celebrate the love that this community has for their bridge, volunteer Vanessa Greenlee worked with committee members to put on an evening filled with dancing. Uncle Joe and the Rosebud Ramblers taught people the Contra dance, an old-fashioned line dance.

“This is the first time we've had a Contra dance in the bridge so it's an exciting moment because we're getting ready to start the dancing and... we're fundraising for 'Old Home Days' as a part of the event,” she said.

This event was free for anyone to join. Food and local vendors came out, as well. All the money that was raised by vendors and volunteers goes back into Newfield's Old Home Days.
