CORNING, NY (WENY) -- This week in wine country, sponsored by Finger Lakes Wine Country, we're learning more about an event happening in Corning throughout the end of October, which celebrates the city's history surrounding the invention of the light bulb, but also some spooky-themed events leading up to Halloween.

The Days of Incandescence is celebrated each October in downtown Corning. Thomas Edison worked with Corning Flint Glass Works while developing the incandescent light bulb in 1880. The event plays on Corning's history in the 1880's, and features guided walking tours with actors portraying notable Corning residents of the time.

Over the course of October 20th through the 31st, events also include live performances, a libations crawl, Jack-O-Lantern carving contest, an Art of the Cemetery tour, and event at Heritage Village of the Southern Finger Lakes.
