HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- A new farm-to-table restaurant is opening next week in the Arnot Mall. Ella's Acres Homestead Kitchen is a fresh and organic restaurant with ingredients straight from the farm.

"We want to bring better food to the area. There's not a ton of super great food. We just want to do something new," said Co-Owner Markus Brown.

Brown and his wife Samantha Hernandez believe that you don't need a fancy restaurant to have great food. They also say it doesn't take much to make food taste good, if you start with quality ingredients.

The couple say that the inspiration behind opening a restaurant is their daughter Zoey. They say they want to teach their daughter healthy eating habits and where food comes from.

The owners think the people in the area are ready for healthier options.

"There aren't a lot of places that offer healthy or fresh food. The feedback we’ve received (especially with the younger generation) is that people want to get back to that. They want to be closer to their food, they don’t want to be eating all these chemicals and all this other stuff that they don’t know what it is," said Hernandez.

The couple hopes to elevate their food options with different and sometimes unfamiliar ingredients. They want to encourage people to try different combinations they never would've thought of before eating at Ella's Acres.

The restaurant will officially open on November 11th at 10 a.m. Ella's Acres will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sundays form 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The eatery will offer sandwiches, soups, salads/bowls and other home made goodies.

"We just hope that we can be part of just getting more people to think that way – just supporting local and sourcing local ingredients. It is a little more leg work to source things locally but it’s just such a better product and you’re supporting your community, supporting your farmers," said Brown.
