ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- People danced the afternoon away during the Dance for a Cause Dance-A-Thon at the YMCA of Ithaca & Tompkins County.

At least 30 dancers participated in this event to raise money for programs tailored to seniors and youth, food for families in need and more in Tompkins County.

Gunnar Madison is the Director of Health and Wellness for the YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County. Madison said this event is a great way to get members of the community and YMCA members to raise money for people in need.

“Like our...scholarship assistance programs, help people in our community to afford a Y membership, afford swim lessons and childcare, also programs for seniors, youth...and also our food hub to help families feed themselves,” he said.

People signed up to dance for two straight hours with volunteer dance instructors. People could donate money during the event to go towards the Annual Campaign, an assistance program that helps the YMCA give back to the community.

Madison said he loves to put on events that bring people together and help the community.

This is still time to donate to the YMCA Annual Campaign. For more information, click this link.
