CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Crystal City's "Sparkle" returns to Corning the first weekend in December. The event is now nearly half a century old. This year, organizers plan to feature horse-and-wagon rides, shopping and dining promotions, outdoor entertainment and more along a closed off Market Street.

Below is a list of events taking place in Steuben County over the next month:

The festivities kick off with the Parade of Lights on Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. along Corning's Market Street. The parade has 50 participants ranging from marching bands to Santa Claus riding on a horse-drawn carriage.

Hornell for the Holidays also takes place this Saturday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Festivities include a parade, music, food and craft vendors, photo-ops with Santa, and the annual lighting of Hornell's Christmas tree.

The 8th Annual Gingerbread Invitational's opening ceremony is Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Attendees can meet the artists behind this years gingerbread creations, and cast votes for their favorite piece. Creations will be on display at the Rockwell Museum from Nov. 30 to Dec. 31.

The Spirit of Christmas is at Pulteney Park in Bath on Dec. 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The spirit-filled event features everything from horse-and-wagon-rides, tree lighting, dancing Elves, and an appearance by Santa.

Hammondsport Village Square is hosting Christmas in the Park on Dec. 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The old-fashioned Christmas celebration features live music, food, vendors, reindeer and Santa.

During the Holiday season, Santa Claus will be visiting his glass house in Centerway Square every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
