PAINTED POST, N.Y. (WENY) -- Fran's Landing in Painted Post is offering free Thanksgiving meals both for pick-up and delivery late Thursday morning and early afternoon.

Troy Preston and Kevin Hillman are co-owners for Fran's Landing and they say this is the 12th annual Act-N-Do event.

"Well, 12 years ago Kevin had an idea," Preston explained. "He wanted to have a Thanksgiving Outreach in which we primarily delivered the meals to the home. He wisely elicited the help of Debbie Flint who was a local principal here to help us connect with the people."

The Act-N-Do acronym stands for Addison Community Thanksgiving Dinner Outreach. Preston, Hillman, and dozens of volunteers provide over 600 meals throughout the community.

"It grew from just being in the Addison Central School District to going out into Bath, Canisteo, Corning, Elmira, into Pennsylvania... so a lot of ground is covered with Act-N-Do," said Preston.

He also said over 200 meals were being picked up from Fran's Landing and over 400 meals were being delivered right to people's homes. On Thanksgiving, people who ordered ahead were given a time slot to pick up their food.

Preston said it takes countless people behind the scenes to slice the pies, wrap dinner rolls, and handout and deliver the Thanksgiving meals.

"It really does take a village to pull this off each year. We’re looking forward to 12 plus more years in the future," said Preston.
