CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- Hundreds of people flooded Corning's Gaffer District for the 47th annual Sparkle event, Saturday evening. Market Street was decorated with holiday lighting, vendors, and carolers.

Best friends Callie Murray, Julia Pierri, and Olivia Lilly have been coming to Sparkle for years.

“We are having fun at Sparkle,” said Pierri. “Here to...basically chat...and hang out together.”

Murray, Pierri, and Lilly wanted to come to the event, together, to spend quality time with one another. Murray said, Sparkle is special to her because she has never seen another holiday event like it before.

“We celebrate a lot and there's, like, so many things you can do...and it’s really Christmas-y,” she said. “I don't think this would be a normal town...I don't think every town does this.”

This outdoor winter market featured food and craft vendors, activities for kids and families, Santa Claus in the glass house, live music, and more.

Nine-year-old Opal Jane Coli wanted to come to this fun-filled event with her friends and family to check out the craft vendors.

“Me and her got matching stuffed animals and charms," she said.

Murray, Pierri, and Lilly agreed that, each year, Sparkle gets better and better.
