The weather pattern is about to make another switch across our region. If you were not too happy about the bitter cold for Christmas weekend, mild temperatures are likely for the New Years weekend. As the Arctic Air slowly weakens over our region, temperatures are expected to gradually increase in the coming days. We have already seen that change, as today's highs were about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than yesterday's.  By Thursday , our highs are likely jump out of the Deep Freeze, since temperatures are expected to rise above 32 degrees. December/ January heatwave is looking more likely , as high temperatures could be as high as the mid 50s by next weekend.
