High pressure in place for the holiday weekend is bringing drier conditions. Some of that dry air will be in place for Tuesday morning as a storm system approaches from the west. Cold air will be in place at the surface for Tuesday morning, but warmer air will dominate just above the surface. This means that any precipitation that makes it down to the ground for Tuesday morning could be a light mix of sleet and freezing rain, potentially creating some slick spots for that Tuesday morning commute. Surface temperatures will warm by Tuesday afternoon, resulting in a changeover to entirely rain showers. Precipitation will be light and scattered throughout the day, with up to 1/10 of an inch of rain expected across the Twin Tiers.
