ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - Five officers suffered minor injuries after three separate attacks by inmates at the Elmira Correctional Facility in the first two weeks of January.

The first incident occurred January 6th.

According to NYSCOPBA, an officer told an inmate to get off the phone in which the inmate refused. NYSCOPBA said the officer walked him back to the cell and while this happened, the inmate struck the officer in the face.

A second officer responded and helped handcuff the inmate.

The second incident took place on January 12th in which an imate was asked to be patted down for contraband.

According to NYSCOPBA, the inmate hit the officer multiple times in the face and head. NYSCOPBA said that multiple officers forced him to the ground and handcuffed him.

Both officers were treated by medical staff and remained on duty.

The following day, another incident took place involving searches for contraband. NYSCOPBA said an inmate hit an officer several times in the head and had to be forced to the ground by three officers.

The officers remained on duty after being treated for injuries.
