ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- On Tuesday, February 28th the City of Elmira held a public information meeting about the East Water Street Rejuvenation Project. Proposal includes making improvements for pedestrians, bicyclist and better traffic flow.

“Right now, they are approving the East Water Street Project. East Water Street Rejuvenation Project actually. And these are a few of the plan designs for that will be coming up for approval by this June,” said Reverend Corey Cook, Second District City council member.
 
Additionally, Elmira City officials discussed landscaping and aesthetics to help beautify the area. Currently, there are three alternative options for potential improvements available and Elmira residents were asked to provide feedback.
 
The anticipated project schedule includes design plans approval in June, with construction set for the Spring of 2024 and expected to be done by the Fall of 2024.
