Horseheads Man Stuck in Creek After Driving Off Route 223

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) - A Horseheads man faces charges stemming from an incident Tuesday in which he became stuck in a creek after driving off route 223 in Horseheads.
The Chemung County Sheriff's Office said at 3:40 PM Tuesday, deputies were sent to a stuck car in a creek bed somewhere between route 223 and route 13.
The communication center was able to identify the driver as 37 year old Scott McGinnis of Old Ithaca Road in Horseheads.
Deputies said McGinnis had left the Byrne Dairy on Old Ithaca Road then traveled on route 223 before turning down a dirt road and became stuck in a creek. McGinnis was able to leave the vehicle, but suffered a medical issue making it unable for him to walk to help.
He was air lifted to Robert Packer Hospital and was released.
McGinnis has a warrant for his arrest for a petit larceny charge and may face additional charges.
