ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Meet Creek, WENY's Pet of the Week from the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA!

Creek is a four-month-old male Labrador retriever/hound mix who loves to give and receive affection. Due to his young age and friendly demeanor, he would be good in any home with dogs, cats and/or children of any age. A meet-and-greet would still be required for anyone who has a dog.

To help Creek and his furry friends have a nice stay at the SPCA as they wait for their future owner, the shelter is seeking donations from the public. While the shelter is preparing for an influx of kittens, it is in dire need of dry food for both adult dogs and cats. Other donation ideas can be found on the SPCA's wishlist. If you are interested in donating to the SPCA, more details can be found here.

The Chemung County SPCA will also be holding two Humane Education Courses on Sunday, April 16. The first session is the "Behind the Scenes VIP Tour" which is designated for second to fifth graders. Running from noon to 1 p.m., students can get a full tour of the shelter followed by playtime with some feline residents. The other session, "Careers in Veterinary Medicine," is designated for high school students and will begin at 1:30 p.m. and finish at 6 p.m. The 90-minute, hands-on program will allow students to explore the field of veterinary medicine. More information about both courses can be found on the SPCA's website under the "Education" page.

The shelter is also reminding residents that it will be their last chance to purchase "Early Bird" tickets for its upcoming "Celebrity Chef" fundraiser on April 22. From now until April 14, a single ticket will cost $79.99, and a table of 10 people will cost $750. Once the "Early Bird" special ends, single tickets will cost $89.99 and a table of 10 will be $850. Tickets can be purchased here.

During the "Celebrity Chef" fundraiser, food and drinks will be provided, and guests can have the opportunity to participate in raffles and an auction. The SPCA's "Celebrity Chefs" include Joe Golden, Roger Laughlin, Sierra Luongo, Lisa O'Connor, Patrick Roth and Taryn Smith. Proceeds from the event directly benefit the Chemung County SPCA.
