BATH, N.Y. (WENY) - Authorities arrested a Bath man following an investigation of an attempted escape in the Steuben County Jail.

The Steuben County Sheriff's office says 29 year old Joshua Jackson of Bath, who is currently an inmate, allegedly attempted to climb into the ceiling of the booking area.

The sheriff's office says this caused $1,500 worth of damage. Jackson also allegedly injured a corrections officer while resisting arrest according to authorities. Jackson was charged with Assault, Escape, and Criminal Mischief.

He was arraigned in court and returned to custody.

The injured correction officer was treated and released by medical staff.
