PINE CITY, N.Y. (WENY) -- A small business in Pine City opened its doors for its grand opening weekend on Friday, May 12th. Owner Anna Brown sold handmade jewelry at craft fairs for the last six years until a local business closed its doors a year ago.

That's when she decided to start her business, The Pine City Post.

"It’s a little bit emotional because we’ve worked so hard, and it’s hard because when you build from the ground up, not knowing what to expect. I'm happy to carry on with a gift shop in our area to bring products that people are going to want to give and get," said Brown.

Brown said it took a lot of effort to turn a dream into a reality. She said there were a lot of people who helped in the process, and opening the store wouldn't have been possible without them.

"To move so much product has been incredible and to hear all of the praise from everybody to say ‘oh I'm so glad I can shop local', support this local business, as well as the other local small businesses we’re trying to promote here as well," said Brown.

Brown said it's awesome to see so much support from the community, and the small business owners who came out for Friday's ribbon cutting.

The Pine City Post will be open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
