WATKINS GLEN, NY (WENY) -- A new festival coming to Watkins Glen will celebrate one of America's classic cars, and it's 70 years of history.

The first annual Watkins Glen Corvette Festival is taking place Saturday and Sunday, May 20th and 21st.

Saturday's event will feature more than 150 Corvettes on display at Clute Park, from 10AM - 5PM. At 6PM, Richard Earl will give a keynote address at the Watkins Glen Community Center, looking at the history and legacy of his grandfather, Harley J. Earl, who was involved in the development of the original 1953 Corvette.

On Sunday, Corvette owners are encouraged to take part in a drive along the historic Glen circuit at 2PM, starting and ending on Franklin Street. Franklin Street will be closed to traffic from noon to about 3PM. Travelers through the area should expect traffic delays and detours.
