SOUTHPORT, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Town of Southport announced on Friday, May 19th it has partnered with Chemung County and Casella Waste to offer Town residents a way to get rid of some of their trash. The Household Trash Disposal Program will issue vouchers on a first come first serve basis for up to 200 people to haul one load of up to 1000 pounds of trash for free to the Chemung County Milling Station in Elmira. 

The program started this past Monday, May 15th, with the Town Clerk's Office issuing vouchers for the program. Proof of residency is required to participate and only 50 vouchers a week will be issued. 

Hours of collection will take place on 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturdays. Vouchers can not be replaced or combined and dumping fees will apply for anything that exceeds the 1000 pound weight limit.
