CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- Many Memorial Day Ceremonies were held across the country to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. On Monday, dozens of people gathered at the Crystal City VFW in Corning to remember those who gave their all.

"Today is a day of remembrance anyways, so just remember the fallen, that’s all I ask," said Corning Honor Guard Captain, Charlie Bosket.

Noah Bosket is Charlie Bosket's grandson and an active U.S. Army member who attended the ceremony. N. Bosket said Memorial Day means a lot to him because he has other family members who enlisted in the military.

"I've had prior uncles, prior grandparents, so it means everything. This was the reason I raised my right hand and took the oath and took that same initiative," said N. Bosket.

N. Bosket added it's not hard for people to come out and support veterans because all they want is to feel supported. He said, "It’s a blessing to be able to come home and celebrate it today and that’s the least thing you can do is support those people who weren’t able to come back and celebrate on a day like this."

Stephen Faulisi is a former combat photographer for the U.S. Air Force. He said there's a difference in honoring veterans on Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.

"There’s a difference between today and honoring veterans on Veteran’s Day. Today to me is a little more important in honoring our veterans even though they’re important, today is very solemn...I just think today is more special," said Faulisi.

Faulisi had one thing to say to those who couldn't make it home. He said, "Thank you for your service, and your honorable sacrifice for what you did, have done, and for what our future generations will do (because of you)..."
