CHEMUNG COUNTY, NY (WENY) -- Senior citizens across Chemung County are lacing up their sneakers, practicing their volleyball serves, and getting out their softball mitts, as the Chemung County Senior Games are underway.

The Chemung County Senior Games are open to people age 50 and up. The games are held each year as a way to celebrate seniors, and give them something to keep them fit and active. This year's games run May 23rd through June 16th, at locations across Chemung County. 

Games include softball tournaments, bowling, volleyball, shuffleboard, bocce, archery, corn hole, and golf. 

According to the Chemung County Department of Aging and Long Term Care, over 400 athletes take part in the games every year. Events are divided into age brackets, with medals awarded to top finishers.
