ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- Catholic Charities of Chemung & Schuyler Counties will host an event for school-aged children and families on Wednesday.

The event will be held at the Samaritan Center at 380 South Main Street in Elmira. Catholic Charities says the event aims to let parents of school aged children know the Samaritan Center is a resource for them, especially with school being let out for the summer, and changes to SNAP benefit amounts. There will be free produce and other items to take home. 

The event is free to attend, with no registration required. 

There will also be a giveaway of free books to all kids, courtesy of the Big Red Bookshelf.
