Update: Driver dead after car goes into the Susquehanna River
UPDATE: 3 p.m. -- According to Pennsylvania State Police the crash claimed the life of the driver. Police say the car was traveling south of Sheshequin Road when for unknown reasons the car went off the road and into the river, resting on its roof.
The driver was declared dead on the scene.
1:45 P.M.: The roadblock on Sheshequin Road has been lifted.
SHESHEQUIN TOWNSHIP, P.A. (WENY) - Emergency crews are on the scene of a river rescue in the Susquehanna River, in Bradford County.
Water rescue crews were called to the scene in Sheshequin Township around 9 A.M. Wednesday morning for a report of a car in the Susquehanna River. Sheshequin Road is blocked off to traffic in both directions, from Ridge Road in Sheshequin to Bridge Street in Ulster.
A dive team, boat crews, and a drone team have been called in, and have been on scene for several hours. As of about 12:30 P.M., state and local police, as well as an ambulance were seen driving away from the scene.
