7/21/23 UPDATE: Ronan has advanced to the second round of competition in  his age group, 5-8. Voting is now underway for the second round, where Ronan is in the top 100 kids competitors.

CAYUTA, NY (WENY) -- A young boy from Chemung County is hoping his mullet will bring home the gold.

Ronan Padgett is competing in the USA Mullet Championships online competition, the kids division. He says he's been growing his mullet for three years, and is now known for his curly long locks. 

He's looking for online votes to bring home the trophy for best kids mullet in the United States.

"You can vote two ways, and you can vote two times. [One the] phone, and if you want to vote two times, then you can use it on computer," Ronan explained.

The Mullet Championship competition also raises funds for Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors.
