Crystal Bermudez joined the WENY News team in July of 2023 as an anchor and producer for Good Morning Twin Tiers. Born and raised in Bayonne, New Jersey, she is looking forward to beginning her professional career in the Twin Tiers!

Crystal graduated from Hofstra University with her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a minor in Political Science. She first found her voice within radio, and participated in her university’s station, WRHU as both an anchor and producer.

She worked on a number of hyper local stories in Long Island, and was recognized by the Long Island Press Club for her coverage on ICE detainees during a hunger strike in New Jersey and a finalist for the IBS Golden Microphone Trophy Awards National Competition for best newscast in her show “Around The World Latin and Caribbean News.”

Additionally she was named a 2022 Gracie Award honoree as a Radio Host and Personality for the Alliance of Women in Media in her coverage of the Long Island abortion rights protest. She’s also had the opportunity to get involved with Hofstra’s television network HEAT. From reporting on the latest stats in sports, to the nation’s breaking headline stories, she found her passion in broadcasting in her four years working for the network.

She also served as the National Anchor for the 2020 presidential election and the 2023 midterm elections through Hofstra Votes Live. In 2021, Crystal was offered the role of production intern for ABC’s late-night television show Nightline where she was extended for a full year. She credits much of her experience there to have shaped her to become the journalist she is today.

When Crystal is not in the newsroom you can find her dancing in salsa classes in Ithaca, trying new recipes, or thrifting at a local thrift store.
