The new Bath Community Health center is now open
BATH, N.Y. (WENY) -- The new Bath Community Health center is officially open at 6890 Country Route 1-13 in Bath. This health center, that is a part of Finger Lakes Community Health, has been five years in the making.
This center is the model of the "Community Health Center" program, that centers are based off, across the United States.
Bath Community Health aims to be a one-stop destination for primary care, preventative care, behavioral health, and dental care.
Mary Zelazny, the CEO of Finger Lakes Community Health, said this program is partially funded through the federal government to better serve everyone in the community, regardless of their economic situation.
“...and that funding, alone, allows us to provide a very generous sliding fee scale for patients that are uninsured or under-insured,” she said. “We want to provide access to care. We don't want someone's insurance status...or not having insurance...to be a barrier to care.”
Zelazny said with centers like Bath Community Health, more people can receive extensive, quality care, without taking an expensive trip to the hospital.
