PAINTED POST, N.Y. (WENY) -- The YMCA at Watson Woods in Steuben County will be hosting a series of upcoming events for this fall season. The YMCA is a nonprofit organization that offers activities throughout their campgrounds all year round.

Brian Dana, Executive Director of the Y shares their upcoming event the weekend of Sept. 22nd will be for adults looking to tap into their crafty sides.

“We have two things going on, one is a craft overnight retreat which is an overnight retreat for adults who want a weekend to spend uninterrupted, without any worries, focusing on the craft or hobby that they, that they love to do. So, we have quilters, embroiders,  we had leather work all going on, under one roof,  which is a ton of fun. But if you're looking for a weekend getaway, Where you don't have to cook, you don't have to clean, you don't have to worry about anything other than your passion or hobby, that’s the weekend for you.”

The fun doesn’t stop there, as their campgrounds holds events for all ages, including children who are looking to get involved athletically that same weekend.

“We're working with the local varsity rugby team and USA rugby. This is an introductory program for kids. So it's ages 5 to 12 that are going to be part of this. It's no contact, so it's very safe. And it’s a great way to learn about the fundamentals of rugby at a young age.”

Once September comes to an end, October comes right around the corner with its’ own schedule lined up. Dana says the first weekend of that month will be wine glass weekend hosted for runners and their families.

“If you're a runner or you know people from out of town that are running that are still looking for lodging, we have lodging available. You can book one of our hotel rooms [for] Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We have pasta dinner on Friday night, on Saturday night, and power snacks really early in the morning for racers on Sunday. So, it can be a great lodging opportunity.”

Dana says those who are interested in coming out and participating do not have to be a member at the YMCA to participate at the Wyatt Watson Woods. If you’re looking to stay up-to-schedule, you can visit their website for all upcoming events or visit their Facebook page.
