ELMRIA, N.Y. (WENY) -- An inmate at the Chemung County Jail could be facing more time behind bars after being charged with trying to bring in contraband.

The Sheriff's Office said 20-year-old Jayden Campbell was charged with conspiracy. The Sheriff's Office said Campbell spoke with an adult and two teenagers, and told them to throw contraband into the jail's recreation yard.

The investigation into that plan started on August 31st.

Just a few days later on September 2nd, investigators and jail officials saw two teens approach the recreation yard, and they were taken into custody. One teen that was allegedly approaching the recreation yard had marijuana in their possession.

Campbell was charged and will appear in court at a later date. The adult that was involved in the plans to throw contraband into the rec yard will be charged soon.
