Gov. Hochul deploys more resources for migrant crisis
ALBANY, NY (WENY)--Throughout the migrant crisis, Gov. Kathy Hochul continues to push federal leaders for more money to manage the thousands of asylum seekers currently in the state.
Anticipating a potential government shutdown in Washington, D.C. the Governor expresses concern about federal assistance on this issue. But she said the state will not give up.
“And if they fail on leading the government and the House of Representatives and shut down government too, we'll find a way to keep Lady Liberty still standing in the harbor with the lights still on. We'll pick it up if we have to,” Hochul said.
Monday Gov. Hochul deploys an additional 150 members of the New York national guard bringing the total to 2,200 national guard members supporting this issue. Hochul said 250 of the total members will solely focus on case management.
