Horseheads Elks Club makes five-figure donation to Bath VA Center

BATH, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Horseheads Elks Lodge used the contributions from their summertime seafood boil to make a donation to the Bath VA.
The Lodge presented a check to Bath VA representatives totaling $14,500. This is the largest contribution that the Horseheads Elks Lodge has made to Bath VA, and they plan to continue to serve local veterans.
"The Elks have a motto and its basically as long as there are veterans in the world, the Elks will never forget them. We plan to do this, host this event next year and makes things bigger and better than they were this year," commented Jerry Moore, who serves as the Horseheads Elks' Exalted Ruler.
The check presentation was attended by representatives of the Bath VA Medical Center and the Horseheads Elks Lodge.
"Any amount of money that we can raise is good for the homeless veterans," said Hannah Aspenwell, who serves as the Elks Activities Committee Chairperson and bartender, "Obviously, its been growing bigger and bigger each year so I do hope next year it's even larger. I mean we've gotten more and more businesses every year to donate which is a huge help in raising the money."
The Horseheads Elks Lodge plans to continue supporting local veterans organizations in the Southern Tier through fundraising and philanthropy, and will hold their seafood boil again next summer.
