HORNELL, N.Y. (WENY) -- Hornell's downtown will close for the 4th Annual Maple City Fall Festival this Saturday. Event organizers will block off Main St. from City Hall to Pizza King, and down Broadway Mall from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Maple City Fall Fest features craft vendors, a kid zone for the little ones, food vendors, live bands and horse and wagon rides. All of the events Saturday are free.

Some vendors initially scheduled for the event did drop out due to the pending rainstorm, but around 80 vendors ranging from local charities to interactive events are still scheduled to attend. WENY's First Warning Weather Team is forecasting a quarter of an inch of rain for the Hornell area over the weekend.

"We are really praying for the rain to stay below us... or at least just give us sprinkles all day. We can handle that," said Valorie Whitehill, BID Manager for the Hornell Partners for Growth.

One of the vendors that is braving the rain Saturday is Cajun, a fan favorite.

"He's one of our normal vendors and he does everything deep fried. You could probably bring a shoe and he'd probably deep fry it for you. He is definitely a fair favorite that everybody goes to," Whitehill said.

This year, event organizers have scheduled two buses that will provide transportation to the festival from the Hornell High School and the old St. James parking area. Students from Alfred State College also have the opportunity to be shuttled to and from the event, with a pickup every half hour.
