BATH, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Steuben County jury found a Dansville man guilty of sexually abusing a young child on Thursday, Oct. 12th. Jason Chabot, 47, was found to have sexually abused a seven year old child in front of a ten year old child.

Chabot was prosecuted by Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker. At the trial, Chabot was convicted of first degree sexual abuse, as well as two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

According to police Chabot has had multiple felony convictions previous to today. He is set to serve up to 15 years jail time plus an additional 20 post-release supervision. DA Baker praised the victim for showing courage in testifying against Chabot in open court.

Chabot is currently in the Steuben County Jail awaiting sentencing.
